Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens Loop

The Gold Coast Regional Botanic Gardens, also known as Rosser Park, put a gentle loop through wetland and bushland right in Benowa. Dogs walk the garden paths on lead, with a signed off-lead area as the reward.

Lead rules

City of Gold Coast keeps dogs on lead along the general garden tracks. The designated off-lead exercise area near Cabana Boulevard is where they can run.

Dogs are not allowed around the central feature lake or the playground areas, so plan your route to skirt them.

The walk

The loop mixes sealed paths, boardwalks and gravel through native bushland, horticultural displays and freshwater wetlands. Keep an eye out for turtles basking along the way.

The 31-hectare reserve has plenty of mature trees and shaded paths. Water taps sit near the off-lead area and the main visitor areas, and bins are spread through the grounds.

Getting started

Car parks sit near the main playground entrance and off Cabana Boulevard. There is also a cafe on site for after the walk.

For a second lap somewhere new, Emerald Lakes Circuit is close by, or stop in at Pooches & Pastries.

Go early on summer days while the shade is cool, and save the off-lead run for the end so a tired dog walks the loop calmly.
