Bulimba Creek Walking Trail

The Bulimba Creek bikeway gives south-side Brisbane dogs a long, shaded creek corridor on a concrete path. Its southern end sits in Eight Mile Plains, next door to Rochedale South, and dogs are welcome on a lead.

Lead rules

Brisbane City Council runs the creek path as a shared walking and cycling route, so keep your dog leashed the whole way. If your dog needs a proper run, Holmead Park in Eight Mile Plains has a designated off-leash area beside the corridor.

The walk

The path is sealed concrete and fairly flat, following the winding banks of Bulimba Creek past open grassy fields and a string of local parks. Much of it sits in shade, which counts for a lot on a Brisbane summer afternoon.

The corridor carries on north toward Murarrie, so you can turn around whenever your dog has had enough. Cyclists use it too, so keep to the left.

Back in Rochedale South, Priestdale Road Fenced Dog Park and Baroona Park Fenced Dog Park are both handy for an off-lead run before or after the walk.

When to go

Mornings and late afternoons are the comfortable times in warm weather. The flat, shaded path suits older dogs and anyone after an easy, steady walk, so just bring water for the dog.
