Nathan Road Park Fenced Dog Park

Nathan Road Park's fenced off-leash area is one of the larger dog parks in Brisbane's south, set inside a broad green space at 97 Nathan Road, Runcorn. Separate zones for big and small dogs keep play matched to size, and the park is open around the clock.

The dog setup

The enclosure splits into a large dog section and a small dog area, with a double-gated entry so nothing bolts while you clip the lead on or off. Inside there is agility equipment, a sandpit for diggers, water taps and shaded seating around the perimeter.

Council rules still apply: stay inside with your dog and keep it under effective control, close both gates behind you, leash up when you leave the enclosure, and remove any dog showing aggression. Waste bins are provided, and the sheer room to run makes this a regular choice for owners of high energy dogs in Brisbane's southern suburbs.

The vibe

Saturday and Sunday afternoons draw the biggest crowds, which can overwhelm a nervous or small dog, and weekday afternoons see a rush of locals after work. Late weekday mornings are the quietest window, and the grass turns muddy after rain.

Max: the small dog yard here is one of the few places I can sniff without a Great Dane parked on top of me. Arrive before nine and I get the sandpit to myself.

Getting there

The park sits on Nathan Road in Runcorn, reachable via Kurrajong Road or Gowan Road, with street parking and a lot beside the sports fields. Translink buses stop nearby at the corner of Gowan Road and Beutel Street, a short walk from the entrance.

Close by with the dogs

Glenefer Street Park Fenced Dog Park is the second Runcorn option, and Coffee in the Woods at Underwood does a tree-lined coffee stop on the drive home.
