Cowpasture Road Shared Path

The Cowpasture Road Shared Path is a practical walk rather than a destination, a wide concrete path beside a busy multi-lane road through Middleton Grange. Dogs are welcome on a lead, which Liverpool City Council requires on footpaths and shared paths outside its signed off-lead parks.

The walk

The surface is smooth and continuous, good for steady walking or a jog. It links Middleton Grange with Austral, Hoxton Park and the suburbs around them.

Along the way you pass new housing, patches of remnant Cumberland Plain Woodland and a lot of traffic.

Heat and traffic

There is very little shade, and the young street trees have a way to go. Carry water, because there are no bubblers to speak of, and bring bags, since bins are only at some intersections.

There is no trailhead car park, so park in a nearby residential street.

Max: Traffic runs right beside this path. Keep the lead short and your dog on the side away from the road.

For an off-lead run, go to Cirillo Reserve Fenced Dog Park, then refuel at Middleton Brew.

When to go

Early morning or evening, when the concrete is cooler. It suits dogs that are calm around traffic and owners after a no-fuss daily walk.
