Cockatoo Creek Linear Reserve

Cockatoo Creek Linear Reserve follows the creek through Cockatoo, starting near Pakenham Road. It is a short, green corridor of native trees and ferns, good for a quiet on-lead wander in the Dandenong Ranges foothills.

Lead rules

Cardinia Shire Council requires dogs on lead, no longer than 3 metres, in its reserves unless an area is signed off-lead. This creek reserve is not on the council's off-lead list.

The walk

Expect natural earth and gravel tracks along the creek for roughly a kilometre. The vegetation gives plenty of shade and plenty for a dog to sniff.

Facilities on the track are basic, so bring water and bags.

For an off-lead run, head to Alma Treloar Reserve Dog Off Leash Area, or go further on the Cockatoo to Gembrook Trail.

A calm option for decompression walks, and cool on hot days.
