Keep your dog close and stay alert, especially around blind corners. Pepsi does not mind bikes, but if your dog is nervous or reactive, you will want to manage them carefully. A more cautious dog like a german shepherd would find the speed and noise confronting, so it is worth knowing your dog before committing to the full loop.

Facilities are minimal. There are no water stations, no bins, and no shelters. Bring your own water, waste bags, and anything else you might need for a couple of hours on the trail. I packed a collapsible bowl for Pepsi and was glad I did, because the 8km distance works up a serious thirst, particularly on warmer days.

Trail tip: Start early to avoid peak mountain bike traffic. The first two kilometres are the busiest for shared use, so keeping your dog on a short lead until you clear that section makes the walk far more relaxed.
