The trail experience. Wide dirt and gravel paths wind through open woodlands and eucalyptus forests. Options range from a quick 3 km return walk to longer loops, with mostly easy to moderate difficulty. Things get steeper and rockier toward Wickham Peak lookout—a popular casual bouldering spot.

Leash rules. The reserve is dog friendly, but your dog must stay on leash at all times. Keep your pup leashed and under effective control, bring waste bags, and clean up thoroughly to preserve this bushland.

Views and terrain. The reward at the top is sweeping views of the city skyline and Mount Barney. Otherwise, you are exploring undeveloped natural bushland, so pack everything needed for a self-sufficient hike.

Getting there. Street parking is available near entrances via Flesser Road or Steele Road. Facilities are virtually non-existent, so carry plenty of water for both of you. Sections are rough and rocky, making it unsuitable for wheelchairs.
