Hen & Chicken Bay Walk

Hen and Chicken Bay Walk traces the foreshore of the bay on the Five Dock side of the Parramatta River, with most of it in Abbotsford and Wareemba. The draw is water views nearly the whole way, plus off-lead park space to break it up.

Lead rules

The City of Canada Bay requires dogs on a lead along the walkways and street sections. Parts of Battersea Park are off-leash, and Halliday Park has off-leash hours, so check the signs for times before you unclip.

Along the foreshore

The route mixes concrete and asphalt paths with suburban footpaths, short boardwalk stretches and grassy park edges. Views run across Hen and Chicken Bay toward the Parramatta River.

Look out for the old Quarantine Reserve, a former animal quarantine ground that is now public green space.

Pair it with

Back in Five Dock, Five Dock Park Fenced Dog Park is handy for a run, and Livvi's Cafe is close for coffee.

When to go

With paved paths most of the way and off-lead parks along the route, it works for young dogs that need a run as well as older ones happy to stroll. Bring water for the dog.
