Kendall Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Kendall Reserve is a fully fenced off-leash dog park at the southern end of Cabarita, right by the Parramatta River foreshore in Sydney's Canada Bay. It is a solid, no-fuss secure yard for a proper run, with grass, sand and dirt underfoot, mature trees for shade and the river parklands next door.

The rules

The park runs under City of Canada Bay Council rules and is open 24 hours. Dogs must be leashed on the way in and out, then released once through the double-gated entrance. Handlers stay inside with their dogs, keep them under voice or hand control, and pick up waste immediately, with bins and a bag dispenser on site. Dogs in heat or showing aggression are not permitted, and the council cap is four dogs per handler.

What's there

Inside the fence you get a water station for dogs, shaded seating for owners and the mixed sand-and-dirt surface that drains the surface water but turns to mud after rain, so keep a towel in the car for paws. The wider foreshore reserve around it has waterfront paths and shaded lawns where leashed dogs can join the family walk, and the nearby playground and barbecues make it easy to turn a park visit into a whole morning.

The vibe

This one skews quiet. Weekday afternoons are the calmest window, while Sunday mornings draw the regulars. The open, social layout suits dogs that are already confident off-lead around others; a first-time nervous dog would do better on a weekday.

Getting there

Access is off Cabarita Road, with parking nearby that fills quickly on weekends, so arrive early. The Cabarita Ferry Wharf is an easy walk if you would rather come by water, and several bus routes run along Cabarita Road.
