Organica

Organica is a busy, produce-focused cafe on the Majors Bay Road strip in Concord, and it goes further than most for dogs: rather than a biscuit jar, it runs an actual dog menu, one of the few in Sydney's inner west. Dogs are welcome at the footpath tables out front, right on the strip.

The dog setup

Seating for dogs is the outdoor footpath area on Majors Bay Road, so expect plenty of foot traffic and pick a table where your dog can settle out of the flow. Staff will bring a water bowl on request. The draw is the Dawg Menu, with cooked plates such as minced beef with rice, lamb with sweet potato and warm oats, and grilled chicken, salmon and rice topped with bacon, plus peanut-butter-and-banana bites for dessert. Order something proper for the dog instead of improvising from your plate.

Worth knowing

The human menu is a big one: breakfast and brunch through to Italian-influenced dinners, with cannoli, cakes and the tiramisu getting the mentions. Weekend mornings get genuinely busy on the strip, so come on a weekday or early if you want a calmer table with a dog beside you. Opening hours run from 5:30am, which makes it a legitimate first-stop for pre-work dog walkers.

Getting there and parking

Find it on Majors Bay Road, Concord's main cafe and dining strip. Street parking is available along the strip and the surrounding residential streets, timed in the busiest blocks. North Strathfield and Concord West stations are both walkable, and the strip itself is a pleasant on-lead stroll either side of a meal.

Make a day of it

Pair it with the Majors Bay Reserve Unfenced Off-leash Dog Park at the northern end of the reserve near the water, open around the clock, though the waterfront edge means keeping an eye on wanderers. Gale St Espresso Bar and 14 Grams Cafe are the other strip coffee stops.
