Allen Street Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Allen Street Reserve is a fully fenced, 1.3 acre off-leash park along Powells Creek in Homebush. In a part of Sydney where most dog space is shared ovals and time-based rules, a permanent secure enclosure is the draw: no checking the clock, just clip off the lead inside the gate any day of the week.

The dog setup

The fenced yard carries dog agility and training equipment as well as open grass, with a drinking fountain inside and benches for owners. Entry is through a double gate. Strathfield Council's conditions apply: dogs stay under effective control and supervised by a competent adult at all times, capped at four dogs per person, and owners carry full liability for their dog's behaviour.

Bring your own poop bags because none are supplied, and there are no public toilets on site. A children's playground and BBQ areas sit next door, so it fits into a family outing without anyone waiting bored in the car.

The vibe

The reserve is compact, which is its strength and its limit. It is built for daily exercise and recall work rather than long-distance running, and at busy times it fills quickly.

Max: it is small enough to feel crowded fast. If your dog gets overwhelmed, aim for a weekday or early morning.

Getting there and parking

The reserve sits on Allen Street in residential Homebush, with street parking around the block. Homebush and North Strathfield stations are both a short walk or drive away, and buses along the main roads put you close if you are coming by transit. There is no lighting, so treat it as a daylight park.

While you're out there

For a longer stretch of legs on lead, Bressington Park is close by, and the Homebush Bay and Parramatta River Loop is a solid riverside walk. For coffee, Urbano Organic Coffee Traders is in Homebush and August Coffee sits in North Strathfield.
