14 Grams Cafe runs out of a corner on Gale Street in Concord, opening at 6am on weekdays for the suburb's first coffee of the day. It is a small, casual neighbourhood cafe: breakfast and brunch plates, quick bites such as croissants, and a flat white worth the detour. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor footpath tables, which makes it an easy pitstop on a morning walk.

Worth knowing

Hours run 6am to 3pm Monday to Friday and 7am to 3pm Saturday, and the cafe is closed Sundays. That makes it a weekday ritual spot rather than a weekend brunch destination, which is no bad thing: the morning peak is busier and street parking gets tight, so arriving before 8am keeps both the table and the parking simple. Free street parking is available on the surrounding residential streets, and Concord is easily covered on foot.
