Lake Windemere Caravan Park

Lake Windemere Caravan Park is a quiet, lakeside caravan park at Warilla on the edge of Lake Illawarra, and it takes dogs on its caravan and camping sites. That makes it a workable Illawarra base if you are travelling with your own van, camper or tent, with the lake and Warilla Beach both in on-lead walking distance.

Dogs are allowed on powered and unpowered sites but not in the cabins or any other on-site accommodation, so the dog-friendly option is your own setup. Management consent is required before you arrive, which means booking ahead and confirming you are bringing a dog rather than assuming approval. Once in the park, the rules are the standard strict set: lead on at all times with the lead held by a responsible adult, never left outside or unattended, cleaned up after, and admission stays at management's discretion. The park

It is a relaxed park with a cafe on site, clean amenities and a reputation for quietness, with friendly long-term residents making up much of the community. The cabins are people-only, so this is a park for self-contained travellers whose dog is happy on a lead and comfortable being supervised. There are no dedicated dog run areas inside the park, so plan off-lead time elsewhere.

Getting there and out with the dog

The park sits close to Lake Illawarra and Warilla Beach for on-lead walks along the water, and Warilla Fenced Dog Park is the nearby off-leash run. Across the bridge, Windang Dog Beach gives your dog sand and water time off lead. For meals with the dog outside, Warilla Beach Cafe, The Happy Fox and 2 Bulls Eatery are all close by.
