Friday Creek Retreat

Friday Creek Retreat is a nine-cabin hideaway in Upper Orara, the farming valley a short drive inland from Coffs Harbour, with fireplaces, spa baths and a pet policy that is actually written down instead of left to a phone call. It suits owners with a calm small-to-medium dog who lives indoors at home and wants a proper cabin break rather than a caravan park.

Dogs at the cabins

The policy is approval-first: every dog must be disclosed and pre-approved by management before booking, and you sign the retreat's pet policy before arrival. Generally up to two small or medium dogs are permitted per cabin, and two large dogs are not allowed, so check where your dog's size sits before you commit. A cover charge applies, plus a $100 fully refundable security bond returned after checkout if the cabin passes its post-stay check for pet hair or damage.

Inside the cabins, dogs that live indoors at home are welcome indoors on holiday, but furniture and beds are strictly off limits, so pack your dog's own bedding. Outside on the grounds the lead stays on, and dogs are never to be left unattended in the cabin or on the property. Bring your own food, bowls and bedding.

The valley and the coast

Upper Orara is quiet Orara Valley farming country, and guests rate the cabins highly for comfort, spa baths and the peaceful feel.
