North Wall Beach Off-Leash Area

North Wall Beach, the southern end of Park Beach near the mouth of Coffs Creek, is the headline off lead beach in Coffs Harbour: sand, creek shallows and open surf a few minutes from the town centre, open to dogs around the clock. The designated zone runs south of Coffs Creek to the North Wall, and Boambee Beach adds a long open run further south for extra room.

The dog setup

The City of Coffs Harbour requires dogs under effective control at all times, which in practice means reliable voice or whistle recall even off lead. Leashes go back on in the car parks, on the walking paths and through the Jetty foreshores precinct, and dogs are prohibited at nearby playgrounds and sportsfields.

The calmer water at the creek mouth suits small or cautious swimmers, especially at low tide, while the open beach runs stronger currents and should be read before a keen swimmer is let loose. Neither stretch is patrolled, so stay well clear of the patrolled flags on the main beach when walking through.

Getting there and parking

Park at the end of Jordan Esplanade for North Wall and take the sandy path down at the south end. Drinking fountains serve people and dogs near the Jetty parklands, and waste bags and bins sit at the major entry points, though carrying spares is the safer habit.

Make a day of it

The Jetty precinct is a short walk north, with cafes that take dogs at outdoor tables including Hub Cafe Jetty. If the dog needs a fenced run rather than open sand, Thompsons Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park is the local option.
