Dog Off-lead Beach

The headline off-lead spot in Coffs Harbour is North Wall Beach (Park Beach South), a sandy, unpatrolled stretch between the Jetty foreshores and the mouth of Coffs Creek where dogs run free under voice control. For more room, Boambee Beach opens up a long open run to the south. Both are 24/7 off-leash and easy to reach from the town centre.

The rules. Dogs must be under effective voice control or supervision the whole time. Leashes go back on in the car parks, on the walking paths and through the Jetty foreshores precinct. Pick up after your dog; bags and bins sit at the main access points. Watch for seasonal signage at nearby Darkum and Woolgoolga Back beaches during Little Tern breeding season, when on-leash rules apply, and keep clear of patrolled swimming flags.

The water. The calmer water near the creek mouth suits smaller or less confident dogs, especially at low tide; the open beach can run stronger currents, so read the conditions before letting a keen swimmer off. Neither beach is patrolled.

What's there. Parking sits at the end of Jordan Esplanade for North Wall, with a sandy path down at the south end. Drinking fountains for people and dogs are near the Jetty parklands, and waste bags and bins are provided at the major entry points.

Nearby with the dogs. The Jetty precinct is a short walk away with plenty of cafes that take dogs at outdoor tables. For a longer outing, the Forest Sky Pier at Sealy Lookout in Orara East State Forest welcomes leashed dogs.

When to go. Weekday mornings are the quietest; weekends and mid-afternoons draw the crowds. In summer, locals come early or late to skip the heat. Good for confident swimmers and dogs that love a long run.
