Thompsons Road Reserve Fenced Dog Park

Thompsons Road Reserve at 94 Thompsons Road is Coffs Harbour's main fully fenced off-leash dog park, a large, sprawling grassy reserve with mature shade trees and a small running creek. It is the spot for high-energy dogs to run safely in a natural setting, and it is easy to reach straight off the Pacific Highway.

The rules. Dogs run off-leash within the fenced perimeter, and owners must stay inside the fence with voice control at all times. Pick up after your dog and bring your own bags, as supplies are not always stocked. A couple of practical watch-outs: some visitors report rare minor gaps in the fencing near the industrial edge, so check the perimeter with a bolter, and keep nervous dogs in mind around the double-gate entry.

What's there. The park has secure perimeter fencing with double-gate entry, a dog water fountain, benches for owners, and plenty of natural shade from the trees. The terrain is mostly flat with some grassy slopes.

The water. The small creek is a draw for water-loving dogs but turns muddy after rain, so expect muddy paws on a wet week.

Getting there. On-site parking sits near the entrance, with direct access off the Pacific Highway. It is in a residential and industrial border area, so driving is the practical option.

When to go. Weekday mornings, mid-afternoons and Sundays are quietest. It gets busy on weekday afternoons and Saturday mornings, so come early on a weekend to beat the rush.
