Thunderbird Park

Thunderbird Park is a large adventure and accommodation property on Tamborine Mountain, and the venue states that a range of the accommodation styles at neighbouring Tamborine Mountain Glades are pet friendly, from Vista Suites and glamping tents through to the Creek, Forest, Mill and Garden Lodges. For dog owners wanting a rainforest getaway less than an hour from the Gold Coast, it is one of the more fully equipped options in the Scenic Rim.

Dogs at the park

The pet friendly styles cover a wide spread of budgets and group sizes, with one exception worth planning around: the two Brumby Lodges are only pet friendly when both are booked together, which suits a single family or two families travelling as a group. At the caravan and camping grounds, dogs are reported to be welcome on a lead, with a fee of around $15 per pet per night reported by guests. Three rules matter more than the rest: dogs stay on lead across the grounds, they are not permitted at the adventure activity zones such as the rope and zip line courses, and they are never to be left unattended. Book directly with the property and confirm the pet friendly room type at the time of reservation, since availability across the Glades styles varies.

The mountain itself does a lot of the work. Cedar Creek Falls Road puts waterfalls and rainforest walks within reach, Gallery Walk is minutes away, and the property's sheer size means morning and evening dog walks never repeat the same circuit.

Off the property, the Leash Free Dog Area on the mountain is the obvious off lead outing, and NaMoo Cafe is a handy dog friendly coffee stop between walks.
