Highland Reserve Park

Highland Reserve Park sits alongside Wimmera Crescent in the Highland Reserve estate at Upper Coomera, and its fenced dog enclosure is the reason local owners keep coming back. The off-leash area is fully fenced and gated among mature shade trees, and it runs 24 hours with a steady rotation of sociable neighbourhood dogs.

The dog setup

Dogs run off-leash inside the fenced enclosure but must be under effective voice control. City of Gold Coast rules apply: leash up entering and leaving, a handler aged 17 or over stays in control, the dog wears a collar with its registration tag, and waste goes in the bins provided. Dogs stay out of the children's playground outside the fence and at least 10 metres clear. Inside, there is open running space, shaded benches and large trees, with water taps on site, though they can be limited, so bringing your own bowl is the safer bet. A community stash of toys and balls tends to live at the park.

Worth knowing

The wider reserve holds a BMX track and a playground, so families pass through the shared areas and the gate routine matters. Weekday mid-mornings are the calm stretch; weekday evenings and weekend mornings draw the biggest crowds. It suits dogs that enjoy company. A quick pause at the gate to read how the dogs already inside are playing is worth the thirty seconds.

Getting there and parking

Access is directly off Wimmera Crescent in the heart of the estate, with street parking along the crescent. Local bus routes service the area, but a car is the easier option from most of the northern Gold Coast.
