BAROSSA HILLS COTTAGES

Barossa Hills Cottages is a small collection of rustic, self-contained cottages on Miller Street in Springton, on the Eden Valley side of the Barossa, best known for the Stables room with its wood fire and character interiors. Dogs are considered by arrangement rather than as a blanket policy, which makes the booking conversation the most important step.

The pet policy

Pets are welcome with prior approval negotiated directly with the owners, and an approved stay carries a pet fee per booking. House rules are the usual considerate set: pets stay off furniture and bedding, and should not be left unattended inside if they are likely to worry or do damage. No in-room pet amenities are listed, so bring your dog's own bedding, bowls and food. Confirm size and conditions before you commit, since the Stables listing has historically suited smaller, calmer dogs.

The place

Cottages sit in a quiet country garden with outdoor furniture to sit out of an evening. The Stables comes with free Wi-Fi, Chromecast and a welcome basket with coffee pods and tea, and outside fire-ban season the first night's fire is stocked with a complimentary basket of timber and kindling; bring extra wood if you plan to run the fire all weekend.

The address is 10 to 12 Miller Street, Springton, with free on-site parking and the Springton General Store a short walk for basics. Springton sits between the Barossa floor and Eden Valley wine country, under an hour from Adelaide.
