Discovery Parks - Hobart is a large caravan and cabin park in Risdon Vale on Hobart's eastern shore, about 15 minutes from the city centre. It takes dogs, but only in specific designated accommodation, so the single most important booking decision is locking in the right cabin or site type. Guests rate the park highly for clean cabins, comfortable pillows and the BBQ area and jumping pillow that give travelling families a break from the car.

Dogs are allowed in the Economy Studio Cabin - Pet Friendly and on Ensuite Powered Sites; no other cabin types are open to pets. Up to two dogs of any size are permitted in the pet friendly cabins, roughly $20 per pet per night, with food and water bowls provided and some pet cabins offering enclosed grassy yards. The Risdon Vale position is about 15 minutes from the Hobart CBD, close to Geilston Bay and Glenorchy, which makes it a practical base for the eastern shore and the city both.

Close by with the dogs

For a proper off lead run, the Chapel Street Reserve Fenced Dog Park in Glenorchy is fully fenced with water and waste bags, and the South Street Reserve Fenced Dog Park in Bellerive adds a separate small dog area on the eastern shore. For a meal out with the dog, Sapore Street Food in Geilston Bay and the dog friendly Glass Garden By The Bay in Lindisfarne are the closest options, and the Hobart Showground is the alternative stay up the Brooker Highway.
