Glass Garden By The Bay

Glass Garden By The Bay is a village cafe and restaurant at 6 Hume Street in Lindisfarne, on Hobart's eastern shore, open seven days from 7am with breakfast, lunch and coffee, plus dinner service on Friday and Saturday evenings. The kitchen leans on fresh Tasmanian produce, and the sheltered outdoor seating is where dogs fit in, which makes it an easy stop around a lap of the Lindisfarne foreshore.

The dog setup

Dogs on lead are welcome in the outdoor alfresco seating; the indoor dining areas stay people-only under standard Tasmanian food rules. The venue advertises sheltered outdoor options, so a drizzly morning is not a write-off. Staff are used to dogs at the tables, but bring your own water bowl rather than counting on one being out.

Max: weekday mornings are the play here. The courtyard fills fast on weekend brunch shifts, and I would rather have room to settle than fight for a patch of deck.

Worth knowing

The all-day menu runs from egg benedict and brisket benny to karaage chicken and share plates, with coffee that draws regulars from across the eastern shore. Dinner is a newer addition, Friday and Saturday from 5pm to 8pm. Street parking sits along Hume Street and the surrounding side streets.

Close by with the dogs

The Clarence foreshore paths and Simmons Park next to the bay are on-lead walking territory, and South Street Reserve Fenced Dog Park at Bellerive is a short drive for a proper off-lead run.
