Limestone Coast Tourist Park

Limestone Coast Tourist Park is a country-style caravan park on the corner of Jubilee Highway East and Hawkins Road, Mount Gambier, set under big gum trees on the edge of town. Its draw for dog owners is unusual for a caravan park: a fenced off-leash exercise area of its own, plus pet-friendly cabins and open sites, which makes it one of the easier overnight stops in the Limestone Coast with a dog aboard.

Dogs at the park

Dogs are allowed in designated pet-friendly cabins and on powered and unpowered sites. Within the main park they must be on a lead; the fenced area at the bottom of the property is where they can run free, and guests regularly call it out as a feature. Some pet cabins have small lockable fenced yards attached, so the dog can sit outside your door safely. Booking platforms report no additional pet fee and a cap of up to three pets, but pet-friendly cabins are a limited subset of stock, so call the park on +61 8 8723 2469 or book direct and confirm a pet cabin or pet site for your dates rather than assuming. Clean-up after your dog is expected, as everywhere.

Max: The fenced run at the bottom of the park is the reason to stop here, so ask where it is at check-in before you wander.

Worth knowing

Facilities are the full caravan-park spread: ensuite sites and cabins that guests rate for their showers, a games room and free fire pit use, which suits cool Limestone Coast evenings. The Blue Lake, the Umpherston Sinkhole and Mount Gambier's town centre are all within a short drive.

Getting there and parking

The park sits on Jubilee Highway East at the Hawkins Road corner, on the main eastern approach to Mount Gambier, which makes it an easy pull-in for travellers coming off the Riddoch Highway. Drive-through and powered sites keep arrivals with a van simple.

Close by with the dogs

Pine Country Caravan Park at Moorak is the other serious dog-friendly park near town, with its own off-lead paddock, and Blue Lake Holiday Park and Mount Gambier Central Caravan Park are the alternatives. Hastings Cunningham Reserve Fenced Dog Park is the town's public fenced run.
