Koroit doesn't have a fenced dog park in the conventional sense. What Moyne Shire Council designates instead is an off-leash exercise area along the Rail Trail between McVicar Street and Lumsdens Lane, close to Lake Street and Lake View Road, giving local dogs a genuine place to run free without a lead.

The rules. Dogs can be off-leash on the Rail Trail section between McVicar Street and Lumsdens Lane, but must stay under effective control at all times. Everywhere else in the township, including the main street area, dogs must be on-leash. Pick up after your dog in all public areas.

What's there. It's a rail trail corridor rather than a fitted-out park, so expect a walking path and open verge, not fencing, agility gear or dedicated water stations. Bring your own water bowl.

Getting there. The off-leash stretch sits a short walk from the town centre on Commercial Road. Free street parking is easy to find nearby.

check exactly where the on-leash boundary starts before letting go of the lead. It's an open corridor, not a fenced yard, so a bolting dog has room to keep going.

When to go. Early morning or late afternoon avoids the midday sun on this shadeless corridor. Good for dogs that just need a proper off-leash stretch of the legs rather than a fenced play session.
