Harmony at Tower Hill

Harmony at Tower Hill is a historic property on 5.2 acres at the corner of the Princes Highway and Lake View Road, right on the boundary of the Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve near Koroit. Every cabin here takes dogs, and they stay inside the self-contained suites with you rather than in an outdoor run, which makes it one of the more genuinely dog-welcoming stays on this stretch of the Great Ocean Road.

All cabins accept dogs, so the main choice is which unit suits your dog; the hosts can match you when you book. Expect a pet fee of roughly $15 to $20 per night, and bring your own bed, bowls and treats since none are supplied. Around the property, dogs are welcome on lead in the shared outdoor recreation area, which has a fire pit, games room and barbecue facilities, but they should not be left unattended in the cabin for long stretches.

Max: the reserve next door is a no-dogs zone, even in the car. Save your walk for the beach instead.

The setting

The property backs directly onto the Tower Hill Wildlife Reserve, a dormant volcanic crater with lookouts and rich native birdlife, including emus, koalas and kangaroos. The reserve itself is strictly no dogs, even inside vehicles, so plan dog walks elsewhere: Killarney Beach and the Belfast Coastal Reserve are the go-to options nearby, with seasonal on-lead rules to check. Koroit is five minutes away, and both Port Fairy and Warrnambool are about ten minutes by car.

Getting there and parking

The address is the corner of Princes Highway and Lake View Road, Tower Hill, about three hours from Melbourne via the M1 or an hour and a half from Mount Gambier. Parking is free and on-site, a short walk from the cabins.

Close by with the dogs

For an off-leash run, the Koroit Dog Park is a short drive into town, and Tower Hill House nearby is another stay that takes pets if the cabins are full.
