QT Melbourne

QT Melbourne is a boutique design hotel on Russell Street in the CBD, with a rooftop bar, moody industrial styling and a proper dog program rather than a grudging pets-on-request policy. It takes dogs through its Pup Yeah stay package, which bundles the room, amenities and dog-specific extras into one booking.

The dog setup

The Pup Yeah package covers one dog per room, up to 20 kilograms, and includes a designer memory foam dog bed, grooming products, a bag of premium treats and a local walking map. A cleaning fee of $150 is charged at booking, with an extra nightly charge on stays beyond three nights.

Dogs cannot be left unattended in the room, and they stay leashed or carried through common areas, kept out of food and beverage outlets and the rooftop. House-trained dogs only, and a pet waiver is signed at check-in.

Pepsi: the value here is the walking map and the dog menu. A CBD hotel that actually thinks about what a dog does all day in a small room is rarer than it should be.

The vibe

It is a hotel with character rather than a generic city room: designed interiors, a lively rooftop bar and a central location steps from the Bourke Street mall. Expect noise and foot traffic rather than a quiet retreat, which suits most dogs fine and excitable ones less so.

Getting there

The hotel sits on Russell Street in the CBD, a short walk from Parliament and Melbourne Central stations, with paid parking nearby and no car needed once you arrive. The Yarra River path and Fitzroy Gardens are both within walking distance for the morning walk.

While you're out there

For off-lead time, Fawkner Park Dog Off Leash Area is a short tram ride south, and the Yarra River Short City Loop works for an on-lead leg stretch. If QT is booked out, Dorsett Melbourne runs its own dog program nearby.
