Keppel Sands Caravan Park

Keppel Sands Caravan Park is a quiet, family-run park at 38 Taylor Street in Keppel Sands, about 30 minutes from Rockhampton or Yeppoon, and it earns its place on a dog road trip two ways: dogs are welcome on the sites, and a dedicated dog wash means the salt comes off before it gets in your van.

The pet setup

Dogs can stay on powered and unpowered sites, but not inside the park's cabins, so arrive with a van, camper or tent. Notify the park when you book and have proof of current vaccination ready. Pets stay on a lead at all times inside the park, are never left unattended, and any disruptive behaviour or constant barking can get you asked to leave.

No pet fee is published in the general rules, so confirm any charge at booking. Dogs are also out of the shared facilities entirely: the plunge pool, amenities and laundry, barbecues, camp kitchen, mini-golf and pickleball court.

The park

It is a laid-back, fishing-oriented park with grassed sites, town water on every site, a camp kitchen and a mini-golf course, and the beach plus the local pub are both a short walk away. Managers are hands-on and the atmosphere is unhurried.

Max: book the powered site near the beach side and rinse the dog in the wash bay before you pack up. Wet dog in a van is a two-day smell.

Getting there

The park sits at the end of Taylor Street in the village itself, with parking at your site. Keppel Sands is reached off the Capricorn Coast road system, and the beach and the hotel are walkable from the gate.

While you're out there

Along the Capricorn Coast, Tasman Holiday Parks Fisherman's Beach at Emu Park is the other pet-friendly base with direct beach access, and Ocean Brew Eatery is the coffee stop on that side.
