The Palms Apartments

Dogs are accepted up to 34 kilograms, typically one per apartment. A set list of breeds is not permitted: Rottweilers, Pitbull Terriers, Bulldogs, German Shepherds and Doberman Pinschers.

Fees are tiered by stay length: a $50 cleaning fee for one or two nights, $100 for three to seven nights, and higher for longer stays, plus a $300 refundable pet bond returned after a post-departure inspection. House rules require dogs to be domesticated, quiet and toilet-trained, on a lead in all public areas of the property, and never left unattended.

Worth knowing

Reviewers rate the apartments for space, comfort and staff friendliness, and the Kent Town position is genuinely practical: the East End cafes and the Botanic Park are a short walk across Rundle Street, and the Park Lands edge is minutes away. This is an apartment stay rather than a serviced hotel, so there is no yard, but for a city trip with a small to medium dog the trade-off is central convenience at apartment prices.

Getting there and parking

The complex sits in Kent Town, immediately east of the CBD across the park lands, about a 15-minute walk to Rundle Mall or a few minutes by car from the Glen Osmond Road exit of the South Eastern Freeway. Undercover parking is available for guests. Adelaide Airport is around 20 minutes away by car.

While you're out there

The Park Lands across Rundle Street include off-leash areas under City of Adelaide rules, with most of the zone open to dogs under effective control. For a fully fenced run, the Conyngham Street Dog Park at Glenside is a short drive south-east, and the North Adelaide Fenced Dog Park sits north of the river.
