Country Comfort Coffs Harbour

Country Comfort Coffs Harbour is a roadside motel on the Pacific Highway, a few minutes south of the Big Banana, and one of the few motels in town that sets aside specific rooms for guests travelling with dogs. It is a practical stop for the north coast drive: garden grounds, an outdoor pool, BBQ areas and free on-site parking, with the northern beaches a short hop up the road.

Dogs at the Country Comfort

Dogs stay in designated pet-friendly rooms, typically ground-floor rooms with direct access outside, and the number of pets has to be declared when you book because pet rooms are limited. A pet fee applies and the amount is confirmed by the property rather than published, so call ahead before locking in your dates. Dogs must be on a lead in shared areas and should not be left alone in the room, since barking complaints are the usual reason pets get moved on.

Bring your own bowls, bedding and towels for the dog, as the motel supplies the human basics only. Book early in school holidays, when the handful of pet rooms go first.

The vibe

This is highway motel country rather than a resort stay. Rooms are large and family-sized with air-conditioning, and reviews consistently note that some areas of the property are showing their age, so go in expecting value and convenience over polish. The garden setting and BBQ area take the edge off a long driving day, and the pool gets a workout in summer.

Getting there and parking

The motel sits directly off the Pacific Highway on Coffs Harbour's northern side, with free on-site parking right at your door. It is roughly 10 minutes from the Coffs Harbour CBD and the Jetty Strip, and Diggers Beach and Park Beach are both a short drive north.

Make a day of it
