Shirley Blue is a fully fenced, pet-friendly cottage near the Shirley Street and Butler Street corner, a quiet pocket that is still a short walk to both the town centre and the Belongil dog beach. The fenced tropical garden and an outdoor hot-and-cold shower for rinsing off salt and sand are what set it apart for dog owners.
The pet policy. Dogs are welcome by prior arrangement, typically one dog and breed-dependent, with a pet fee. Confirm the current terms, your dog's size and breed, and the fee directly with the host when you book, since these conditions are set per stay.
The place. It is a tropical cottage with a fully fenced rainforest garden, an outdoor cabana, a covered deck and a six-burner barbecue, usually offered as a house plus a self-contained studio. The fencing and the outdoor dog shower make it genuinely practical after a sandy beach session. House rules include no parties and no excessive noise after 9pm.
Location and nearby. It is set up for a near car-free stay: a short walk into town past the Thursday farmers market, and a roughly 10 to 15 minute walk to the off-leash section of Belongil Beach via the bike path and over the railway line. If you drive to the dog beach, there is parking at the end of Kendall Street. Treehouse on Belongil (dogs in the garden and deck) and Otherside Cafe are both close.
The walk to the beach. Dogs are on lead through town, the residential streets and the beach entry paths; off-leash applies only in the designated zone, north of the rock wall on Belongil toward Ewingsdale. The main town beach and Arakwal National Park are dog-prohibited. Check the Byron Shire signage on-site, as off-leash boundaries can change.

Book ahead and confirm the one-dog and fee terms, walk the beach early or late at low tide to dodge the holiday crowds, and you have town and the off-leash sand both within an easy stroll.
