The View St Studios take dogs, and the Samphire Collection house rules apply across the group: a once-off $50 fee per pet covers the extra cleaning, pets stay off couches and beds, and dogs should be on a lead in shared garden areas. Declare your pet at booking rather than at check-in. You can leave a dog unattended in the studio only if it is fully toilet-trained and will not whine or bark and disturb other guests, and the studios are set up for a maximum of two adults. Pick up after your dog in the garden before departure.

Guests talk up the studio design, the ocean view and the peaceful feel, with comfortable beds and homely touches like homemade jam. It is built for two, so it suits a quiet couples' getaway with a settled small dog rather than a family or a reactive dog that needs its own space.

Getting there and parking

View Street runs off the lower slopes above Albany's town centre, close enough to walk to shops and cafes but quiet at night. Parking is at the door. From here you are a few minutes' drive from Middleton Beach and the Emu Point foreshore.

The Emu Point Cafe is a reliable dog-friendly stop by the water, and for a different style of stay Emu Beach Chalets and the BIG4 Middleton Beach Holiday Park both take dogs in their pet seasons. The group's cottage option, the Samphire Collection Allotment Cottage, is the pick if you want more space than a studio.

Max: Off the couch and onto your own bedding, and the $50 stays the only cost. A dog that vocalises when left alone is the wrong fit for a studio.
