Acclaim Albany Holiday Park

Acclaim Albany Holiday Park at 550 Albany Highway takes dogs, but with one condition that decides everything: pets are only welcome for guests bringing their own caravan or motorhome. Dogs are not allowed in any of the park's own accommodation, full stop. If you are touring WA's south coast under your own rig with a small dog, it is a practical, well-equipped base a few minutes from the Albany townsite.

Touring caravanners with small pets are welcome on the powered and grassy sites, and you must declare the pet at the time of booking. The park's pet policy excludes tents, camper-trailers and every cabin, chalet and unit, and it points out that this exclusion reflects WA's Caravan Park and Camping Grounds regulations, so there is no workaround: no pets tied up on verandahs, none left sleeping in cars. The policy's wording is small pets only, and breeds that may cause fear or anxiety for other guests are not permitted, so check with the park if your dog is on the larger side.

Once on site the rules are straightforward: lead at all times outside your own setup, no tying the dog up and leaving it unattended, and the park asks you to walk dogs outside the grounds rather than around them. Confirm any pet fee when you book.

The park's facilities are solid for a working stopover: powered sites with concrete pads, a camp kitchen, BBQ area, kids playground and dump point, with chalets and bunk-room accommodation for the non-dog travellers in your group.

Pepsi: book the van site, declare the dog, and plan your off-lead time at Emu Point instead of hoping the park has a run. It does not.

Close by with the dogs

The park sits on the Albany Highway approach to town, so shops and fuel are close. Under City of Albany rules, dogs are generally on-lead in town, but Emu Point has designated off-lead beach zones away from the main swimming stretch, and the Emu Point Cafe is a known dog-friendly stop after a beach walk. If this park's caravan-only rule does not fit, Havana Villas and Emu Beach Chalets at Emu Point are the dog-accommodating alternatives closer to the sand.

This suits road-trippers touring with a small dog and their own van who want a full-facility base near Albany's beaches and sights. It is not an option for cabin stays with a dog, so sort that out before you arrive rather than at the office window.
