The Vault

The Vault is a restaurant and bar set inside a heritage former bank on Goldie Street, the main strip through Wynyard on Tasmania's north-west coast. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables on the footpath frontage, which makes it a sit-down dinner or a drink after a foreshore walk without leaving the dog behind. It trades from 7am, with Sunday wrapping earlier at 3pm.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the outdoor footpath tables, not inside the heritage dining room. That puts you table-side with your dog on a short lead and a view over the town centre. There is no dedicated dog menu, so pack a portable water bowl; staff are generally happy to help with water on request.

Worth knowing

The setting is the conversation starter: a converted bank complete with the former vault repurposed as a talking point, paired with a full restaurant and bar menu. The river view, the pork belly and the arancini get consistent calls, alongside a solid cocktail and whisky list and live music on some nights. This is a proper dinner venue rather than a quick coffee stop.

Getting there and parking

Goldie Street is Wynyard's main street, so the venue is an easy walk from most of the town centre. Free street parking sits directly out front and in the side streets, though the frontage spots fill on live-music nights. Best as an evening booking, especially when there is music on.

Gutteridge Gardens along the Inglis River is a short walk for a leg-stretch before or after, the East Wynyard foreshore adds a longer coastal option, and Fossil Bluff a few minutes' drive away is a scenic finish to the day.
