Lemon Tree Providore

Lemon Tree Providore is a gourmet food store and cafe in a 1920s building on Goldie Street, Wynyard's main street on Tasmania's north-west coast. It is a coffee-and-browse stop rather than a full meal destination: the shelves are curated with Tasmanian-made produce, preserves and gifts, the coffee is specialty quality, and VDL Creamery ice cream and sorbet are the local sweet-tooth draw.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the pavement seating out the front on a short lead; inside is a compact shop where you order and browse, so plan to sit outside with your dog. Bring a portable water bowl. Fittingly for a dog-welcoming stop, the store even stocks ethically sourced Tasmanian dog treats, so the visit can end with something for the dog as well as you.

Worth knowing

Hours are limited: typically Tuesday to Friday from 10am, Saturday from 11am, closed Sundays and Mondays, and they can shift around special events, so confirm on the day. Best window is mid-morning to early afternoon on an opening day, and it suits a short coffee or ice-cream stop rather than a long sit-down.

Close by with the dogs

Gutteridge Gardens along the Inglis River is a short walk for an on-lead leg stretch, and the Wynyard foreshore connects to the Coastal Pathway for a longer walk. For a full off-lead run, Somerset Dog Beach is a short drive east, and the council's fenced Bark Park at the Wynyard Show Grounds sits right on the pathway route.
