Atomic Bar holds a prime spot on Nelson Place, opposite the Williamstown waterfront, doing Italian-leaning pub food, cocktails and breakfast in a room dressed up with gold chandeliers. For dog owners it works as a footpath stop: the front tables face the water and take in the foreshore.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome at the footpath tables out the front, which look across to the water. The main indoor dining room is not set up for dogs, so plan on the outside tables. Staff along this strip are used to putting out water bowls, but bring your own during busy service to be safe.

Good to know. It is known for hearty parma, lamb shank and calamari, a happy hour, and a relaxed atmosphere that suits a long lunch. It is more of a sit-down meal than a grab-and-go coffee stop.

Getting there. It is at 183-185 Nelson Place. Street parking runs along Nelson Place and the side streets but gets very busy on weekends; the Commonwealth Reserve area is a short walk away with more options.

Nearby with the dogs. Commonwealth Reserve across the road is an easy on-leash green space, and the foreshore path in front runs past Gem Pier toward the Williamstown Lighthouse and the Jawbone reserve.
