The Kiosk by d'Asporto

The Kiosk by d'Asporto is the beachfront takeaway window at 99 Esplanade, Williamstown, at the western end of Williamstown Beach next to the swimming pool. It is the offshoot of local favourite Pizza d'Asporto built for exactly the mid-walk coffee stop: order at the window with the dog beside you, then take your bacon and egg roll down to the sand with the city skyline across the bay.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome throughout the open-air beachside area, and a takeaway kiosk is inherently dog friendly: there is no indoor dining to worry about, just the window, the promenade and the sand. Casual tables and benches sit around the kiosk, and the coastal path in front is a promenade for leashed dogs. Bring a portable water bowl because one is not guaranteed on site.

The vibe and the menu

The kitchen does beach classics done properly: fish and chips, calamari, potato cakes and hot jam donuts, plus croissants and bacon and egg rolls for the morning trade. Staff have a friendly, unhurried manner, and on sunny weekends the whole strip hums. It trades daily from 7am to 3pm.

Getting there and parking

The kiosk sits right on The Esplanade, Williamstown, with street parking along the beachfront and in the bays near Williamstown Beach station. It gets busy on sunny weekends and through summer, so a weekday morning is the easy visit.

Close by with the dogs

The Cyril Curtain Reserve Dog Off Leash Area runs along the nearby foreshore for a proper run, and the Williamstown Coastal Loop passes straight past the kiosk for a longer walk. Note that dogs are restricted on the main swimming beach during the warmer months, so keep to the designated off-lead stretches and the promenade in summer.
