Charles & Gamon

Charles & Gamon occupies the corner of Charles and Gamon Streets in Seddon, an industrial-chic bar and kitchen pouring craft beer, cocktails and wine, with wood-fired pizza and seasonal pub food out of the kitchen. It has become one of the inner west's reliable dog-friendly tables, with a grassy outdoor area that gives dogs room to settle rather than squeezing onto a footpath.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating: the beer garden and the grass lawn area out the back, where there is space to settle on the grass or under a table. The venue has also welcomed dogs inside in the past, but that can shift, so check with staff when you arrive if the weather pushes you indoors. Either way keep your dog on a lead and close. The venue asks drivers to park considerately on Charles Street out of respect for the neighbours, and Seddon station is an easy walk if you would rather leave the car at home.

The vibe

The menu runs to wood-fired pizza, burgers, shareable small plates and pub staples, with the lemon pepper calamari and pork belly among the regular orders. Drinks lean local: rotating craft cans, local taps, a serious wine list and classic cocktails. Live music lands on weekends and the fireplace makes the interior an easy winter bolt hole. The kitchen trades Wednesday to Sunday from midday until around 8:30pm, with the bar going later; Monday and Tuesday the venue is dark.

Getting there and parking

The venue sits at the corner of Charles Street and Gamon Street, Seddon VIC 3011, walkable from much of Seddon and Yarraville and close to Seddon station on the Werribee and Sunbury lines. Street parking is available along Charles Street and the surrounding blocks, busier on weekend evenings when the music is on.

While you're out there

Burn off the pizza first at Francis St Fully Fenced Dog Park or McIvor Reserve Fenced Dog Park, both a short drive away in Yarraville, and Barbara Beyer Reserve Off Leash Area is the quieter alternative. The Maribyrnong River Trail and Burndap Park is the longer leg-stretch option.
