The Mango Place Broome

The Mango Place is a rustic cafe and farm shop on a working mango orchard at 12 Mile Kanagae Drive, Roebuck, around 20 to 25 minutes from central Broome along the Great Northern Highway. The whole seating area is outdoors under shady tropical trees, and well-behaved dogs on a leash are welcome in the garden, which makes this an easy family-and-dog stop on a day trip out of town.

The dog setup

Because all seating is in the open-air garden, the dog policy is straightforward: leashed dogs are welcome in the outdoor area, kept close to your table, and there is no indoor dining to worry about. Past visitors report staff are accommodating and will provide a water bowl, but bring your own as a backup. The open space and lawn edges suit dogs better than any cafe strip in Broome, though wildlife, farm equipment and other visitors mean the leash stays on.

The food

Everything leans into the fruit it grows: mango smoothies, cheesecakes, homemade scones with mango jam and cream, mango liqueur cake, and the beef and mango wine pies. Sunday is the standout day, when the woodfired pizzas come out of the oven and draw visitors from across the Broome region. The shop sells mango wines, chutneys and homemade soaps, and tastings are part of the visit.

Getting there and parking

The farm sits on Kanagae Drive at 12 Mile, Roebuck, off the Great Northern Highway, with free off-street parking that usually has plenty of space. Opening hours are generally 10am to 2pm and the gates close on Saturdays when the stallholders head to the Broome markets, but hours shift seasonally, so check the Facebook page before the drive.
