Ricks Garage

Ricks Garage is a retro American diner built into a converted 1950s petrol station on Margaret Street in Palmwoods, popular for big burgers, live music and a car-and-bike crowd. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor beer garden and patio area, on a leash.

Dog setup. Outdoor seating in the beer garden and the patio near the Bakehouse is where dogs are allowed. Indoors is for people only. Water bowls are commonly put out for dogs in the outdoor sections, but bring your own bowl as backup.

Known for. Large gourmet burgers, loaded fries, onion rings and milkshakes, served in a vintage-car, Americana setting. Live music and a strong weekend crowd of bikers and car enthusiasts.

Getting there. Free street parking along Margaret Street and nearby residential streets. Weekends get extremely busy, so expect to walk a short distance from where you park.

Nearby with the dogs. Palmwoods Park is a short stroll away for letting your dog burn off energy before or after eating.

When to go. Weekday afternoons are calmer if you want outdoor table space with your dog. Saturdays bring live music and crowds, great atmosphere but tighter seating.
