Authentic Napoletana wood-fired pizza and an imported deli counter at the beach end of Main Street, with a street-facing outdoor deck where leashed dogs are welcome. The draw is the food and the position, a few minutes' walk from the water.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome on the outdoor deck and patio seating only, kept on lead beside your table. The kitchen has been known to send out dog biscuits, though that is goodwill rather than a fixture, so bring your own water bowl. The indoor dining room and deli counter are off-limits to dogs.

Known for. Wood-fired Napoletana pizza, fresh buffalo mozzarella and premium antipasto, with a busy front-of-house deli stocked with imported Italian goods. It is lively, especially for weekend lunches and dinners.

Getting there and parking. 22 Main Street, at the beach end. Free street parking runs along Main Street but fills fast on weekends; side streets and the public car parks just off the strip are the better bet in the afternoons.

Nearby with the dogs. You are a few minutes' walk from the foreshore and Mornington Park, and a short stroll from The Winey Cow if you want a dog-menu brunch. Royal Beach off-leash area sits just south past Schnapper Point.

When to go. Mid-week or earlier in the evening on weekends gets you a calmer spot on the deck, which suits a dog better than the peak-hour crush.
