Flume By The River

Flume By The River sits at 1/267 Bradman Avenue, right on the Maroochy River in Maroochydore, and it is one of the easier sit-down meals to plan around a dog on the Sunshine Coast. The water views carry the venue: calm river outlooks in the morning, sunsets over the water at dinner, and the riverside path runs straight past the door.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome in the outdoor, undercover and courtyard seating along the riverfront; the indoor area stays people only. Staff are known for being good with pets, bringing out water bowls and, when they have them, the odd complimentary dog treat. Ask for a courtyard table when you arrive because it is the easiest spot to settle a dog, and keep the lead short along the shared riverfront walkway.

Worth knowing

Breakfast is the main event, served daily from 7am, with cabinet treats, rosti and avocado plates, and well-regarded Tim Adams specialty coffee. The kitchen also runs dinner sessions, wood-fired pizzas and pastas later in the week, plus craft beers and cocktails, and there is live music on some evenings. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are spread across the menu, so mixed dietary groups are easy.

Getting there and parking

Street parking runs along Bradman Avenue and an on-site lot serves the venue, but both tighten up on peak weekend mornings. The riverside path makes an on-foot arrival with the dog straightforward if you are staying nearby.

Close by with the dogs

Walk the foreshore path before you eat, or let the dog run first at Maroochydore's unfenced dog leash-free park. One correction to older advice: Maroochydore Beach itself is not an off-leash beach, and dogs are prohibited around some beach accesses on Alexandra Parade, so check Sunshine Coast Council signage before heading to the sand. For coffee beforehand, Ocean Folk Espresso is one of several dog-friendly cafe options in the suburb.
