Ocean Folk Espresso

Ocean Folk Espresso hides in plain sight: it operates out of the Ocean Addicts surf shed at 14 Memorial Avenue, Maroochydore, a shed style venue that blurs the line between indoors and out. That layout makes it unusually easy with a dog, and the hours tell you who it serves: 5:30am opens Monday to Saturday, 6am Sundays, all wrapped up by 1pm.

The dog setup

Dogs are welcome at the outdoor tables and in the open air shed itself, which is more forgiving than a standard enclosed cafe. Water bowls are available and puppyccinos are on offer, so your dog is genuinely part of the visit rather than tolerated. The footpath side handles the takeaway flow, so tuck in away from the order window with a settled dog.

Worth knowing

The coffee is the headline: it pours Melbourne's St Ali, and locals rate it among the best on this stretch of the Sunshine Coast. Food is light rather than a full kitchen, with muffins, banana bread, smoothies and gluten free cakes and snacks. The crowd is morning walkers and surfers, so after 10am it starts winding down towards the 1pm close.

Getting there and parking

Memorial Avenue sits between the Cotton Tree precinct and central Maroochydore. Free street parking is available but the short-term spots tighten up on weekends, so arriving at opening is easiest. On foot it is a few blocks from the Maroochy River side and about the same to the beach.

Close by with the dogs

Cotton Tree's riverside lawns and beaches are a short walk for the post coffee sit, and the Unfenced Dog Leash Free Park covers off lead time.
