O’Chaa Thai Restaurant

O'Chaa is a family Thai kitchen at Shop 1-2/1751 Anzac Avenue in Mango Hill, in the North Lakes Junction complex, doing fresh curries, stir-fries and cocktails across lunch and dinner. Its listing notes dogs allowed outside, and the outdoor tables sit right off the car park, so you can walk in with the dog without crossing the indoor sections.

The dog setup

Dogs join you at the outdoor seating, which has room for a dog to settle beside the table. There is no confirmed dog water or treats, so bring your own bowl, and keep your dog on the lead clear of the entrance path. Call ahead on 0423 845 987 if you want to be sure an outdoor table is free, especially for a Friday or Saturday dinner when the room fills up.

Worth knowing

Regulars rate it among the better Thai options on Brisbane's north side, with the massaman curry, hunglay pork belly, chicken satay and slow-cooked beef cheeks the dishes that come up most, plus a solid vegetarian and vegan range and deep-fried ice cream for the finish. Trading covers lunch 11am to 2:30pm daily and dinner from 5pm, wrapping at 9pm on weeknights and Saturdays and 8:30pm on Sundays. Bookings are recommended for weekend dinner.

Getting there and parking

The complex car park sits right outside with free parking, and Anzac Avenue runs straight through from North Lakes, Mango Hill and the Bruce Highway interchange, so access is easy. Mango Hill train station is nearby for anyone arriving by rail.

Close by with the dogs

The Capestone Dog Park is the closest fenced run for a leg-stretch before dinner. If you want another meal with the dog in the area, the Beach House Bar & Grill at North Lakes does the outdoor pub setup, and Dawg Boys down the road covers the casual burger run.
