Springbok Kitchen

Springbok Kitchen is a South African restaurant and boutique bar on the boardwalk at Dolphin Quay, 4 Zephyr Mews, in the Mandurah Ocean Marina. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor seating, and the marina-side deck with a chance of dolphins out on the water makes it an easy lunch or dinner with the dog beside the table.

The dog setup

Dogs join you in the outdoor boardwalk seating, not in the indoor dining room. The tables sit right on the waterside walkway, so keep your dog on a lead and settled close to your chair while foot traffic moves through the precinct. Staff are used to dogs out front, but pack your own water bowl to be safe, especially through a weekend lunch.

Worth knowing

Hours shift by day: dinners run from 5pm to 9pm Monday to Thursday, weekend days add a morning-to-afternoon service, and Sundays run a long day session from 9am. The menu is properly South African: bunny chow, a hollowed loaf filled with curry, bobotie, the Cape Malay spiced mince bake with its egg topping, vetkoek, peri-peri chicken livers, boerewors and a carnivore-style sharing platter for the table. The bar pours South African beers and ciders, and live music runs on selected nights and weekend afternoons, so check the week's line-up if your dog prefers quiet.

Getting there and parking

Springbok Kitchen is in the Dolphin Quay row at 4 Zephyr Mews, with free parking throughout the marina precinct and a flat, short walk from the bays to the boardwalk. The whole approach is step-free, which helps when you are carrying a lead and a water bowl.

Close by with the dogs

The Dolphin Quay boardwalk is made for a leashed loop before or after a meal. In the same precinct, Lily Paris does coffee and pastries at dog-friendly outdoor tables, Oysterbedz welcomes dogs on its deck, and Murphy's Irish Pub is a short walk back towards the foreshore.
