Mad Apple is a sunny all-vegetarian and vegan cafe in the heart of the Launceston CBD, and it makes a genuinely welcoming dog stop: bring yours to the outdoor tables and the team will happily knock up a puppuccino.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome at the outdoor seating on George Street, the natural choice while you have a coffee or a meal. As a food venue, dogs stay outside rather than in. Staff are well used to dogs and serve puppuccinos with enthusiasm, but pack a water bowl for warm days.

Good to know. The menu is fully plant-based breakfast and lunch, with a lot of the produce coming from their own Mad Apple Garden. It is open seven days, generally until mid-afternoon, so it is a daytime stop.

Getting there. Address is 86 George Street, central CBD. Street parking on George Street is limited; the Elizabeth Street car park and Central car park nearby are reliable fallbacks. It is an easy walk from most city hotels.

Nearby with the dogs. City Park is a five to seven minute walk for green space, Riverbend Park is about ten minutes for a waterfront stroll, and Cataract Gorge (on-leash) is a short drive for a bigger walk.

When to go. Mornings are the sweet spot. Arrive a little before or after the brunch peak for an easier outdoor table with room for the dog.
