Boatyard Launceston

Boatyard is a waterside restaurant overlooking the Tamar and the historic slip yards, and its covered deck is dog-friendly, a scenic spot to eat with the dog on a clear day.

The dog setup. Dogs are welcome in the outdoor dining areas, including the covered deck, with shaded options for warmer days. The main dining room indoors is not for dogs. Staff are accommodating, but bring a portable bowl for water.

Good to know. The kitchen does Tasmanian seafood and modern Australian cooking with a seasonal menu, plus a weekend oyster shed, all with views of the river and across to Cataract Gorge.

Getting there. Address is 13 Park Street. Street parking is available, with more in the Tamar Street and Park Street area. From the city you can walk in along the Seaport walkway.

Nearby with the dogs. The Seaport boardwalk is right alongside for a flat scenic walk, and Cataract Gorge (on-leash) is a short walk or drive for a longer outing.

When to go. Sunny days and early evenings make the deck. Arrive before the dinner rush for a shaded spot with room to settle the dog.
