Grain of the Silos

Grain of the Silos is the restaurant, cafe and bar set inside the old red-brick grain silos at Peppers Silo Hotel, 89-91 Lindsay Street, Invermay, looking over the North Esk River near its meeting with the Tamar. It is one of Launceston's flagship paddock-to-plate rooms, built on Tasmanian produce in a building that kept its 1960s silo walls.

Where dogs stand: worth knowing

Despite its riverside deck and parkside position, this is not a dog-friendly venue under the current house policy. The restaurant sits inside the Peppers Silo property, which operates a no-pets rule across the hotel and its dining areas, with registered assistance animals the only exception. The menu runs an all-day service from early breakfast through dinner, built on local producers: King Island beef, Tasmanian scallops, house gnocchi and pork belly, with vegetarian and vegan options alongside. Diners can sit indoors, in the lounge, or on the outer deck overlooking the parkland and river. It is popular for breakfast, brunch and dinner, seven days a week.
