Heritage Forest Fenced Dog Park sits inside the wider Heritage Forest parkland on Forster Street, Invermay, right next to the Churchill Park Sporting Complex. It is a fully enclosed off-leash area on reclaimed riverside land, which means a proper run without the constant lead-clipping of a shared park.
The rules. Dogs can run off-leash only inside the fenced enclosure. Everywhere else in Heritage Forest, leads are compulsory. Owners need to keep control of their dogs at all times, and any dog showing aggression should be removed straight away. Bring your own bags; council-supplied ones are not guaranteed.
What's there. The fenced area has open grass, a scattering of trees, big concrete pipes dogs can run through or hide in, and benches for owners standing around. The surrounding parkland adds walking and cycling tracks, a playground, a flying fox, outdoor exercise equipment, and an undercover barbecue area if you want to make a morning of it. Parking is on-site, with a wheelchair-accessible entrance.
Getting there. The park is off Forster Street, near UTAS Stadium, with easy access from Invermay Road (the A7). Bus stops on Invermay Road are a short walk away, and it is within walking distance of accommodation around Invermay.
Crowd tips. Weekdays are generally quiet. Weekends pick up, and the park sits on the 5km Launceston parkrun route, so expect more people and dogs around on Saturday mornings. Locally reported quiet windows are Sunday evenings, Monday evenings, and Friday mornings; busier stretches tend to be Monday mornings and Tuesday to Wednesday evenings.

When to go. Weekday mornings or evenings outside the parkrun window are the easiest times for a clear run. If your dog is boisterous around others, avoid Saturday morning and go straight after the school run instead.
