Ya Beaut Takeaways was the fish and chip shop at 44 Cribb Street in Landsborough, a classic grab-and-go stop on the main strip through the Sunshine Coast hinterland town. It traded on old-school fish and chips, chicken salt chips and generous serves, including a vegan parmy that got people talking. Note that the shop has now permanently closed: the Google listing was switched to permanently closed in 2026 after a stretch of mixed reviews and the shopfront being offered for lease, so do not plan a trip around it.

The dog setup when it traded

This was always a window-order operation rather than a sit-down cafe, so the dog angle was simple. Dogs waited on the footpath out the front while you ordered at the window, and the plan was to walk your order somewhere green rather than eat on site, because there was little to no seating. A second person to hold the lead at the counter and your own water bowl were the practical essentials. None of it was fancy, and that suited a greasy-paper dinner eaten on a park bench with the dog at your feet.

Worth knowing

Before closing, the shop split its day into lunch and dinner blocks, running 11am to 2:30pm and then reopening around 4pm, with later finishes on Friday and Saturday. Reviews ran mixed, so it was always a roll of the dice on a given night. The menu covered the chippy canon: battered fish, calamari, steak sandwiches, burgers, dagwood-style options and thick gravy, with the vegan parmy the item that pulled people off the highway.

If you were planning a chippy picnic in Landsborough, the picnic option still works: the Pioneer Park fenced dog park on Caloundra Street has separate large and small dog runs, drinking fountains and picnic tables, and it sits right in town. The Ewen Maddock Dam main track is the bigger bushwalk option for working up an appetite first.
