The Steaming Cup is a busy, eclectic cafe on Maleny Street in the middle of Landsborough, with dogs welcome at the footpath tables out the front. It is a solid breakfast-and-coffee stop on the way to or from the hinterland.

The dog setup. Dogs join you at the outdoor footpath seating; this is the dog-friendly area, not indoors. The footpath spot keeps your dog beside you but sits right on the street, so a settled dog does best. Staff are accommodating and will often bring water, though a portable bowl is worth packing.

Good to know. Regulars rate the coffee among the better cups in the hinterland, and the kitchen turns out well-priced breakfast and lunch, eggs benedict, scrambles and wraps among the picks. With a few hundred reviews it is a well-established local, so expect it to be lively at weekend breakfast.

Getting there. On Maleny Street in the main town strip, with street parking directly out front and in the surrounding streets. Easy to reach off Steve Irwin Way.

Nearby with the dogs. Pioneer Park and its fenced dog park are a few minutes' walk for a run, and the Ewen Maddock Dam tracks are a short drive for a longer on-lead bushwalk.

Best mid-morning on a weekday when the footpath is quieter. Good for a calm dog happy to settle by a street-side table.
