Heritage Hotel & Function Centre

The Heritage Hotel and Function Centre is a rustic, old-style pub set within the 48-acre grounds of Old Petrie Town at 901 Dayboro Road, Kurwongbah, about 35 minutes north of the Brisbane CBD. Between the shady verandah and the leafy, rural setting it is a straightforward choice for a relaxed weekend meal or drink with your dog, and the historic precinct around it makes the trip worth the drive.

The dog setup

Well-behaved dogs on leads are welcome in the outdoor and verandah areas, and the deck is the practical spot to settle in. The surrounding Old Petrie Town parklands are dog friendly on lead too, so you can walk the heritage precinct before or after your meal. Water bowls are often placed on the decks, but bring your own to be safe. Easy-listening live music on the verandah is a regular feature, so a dog that is comfortable with background noise and other tables will have the better time. Policies for inside dining can shift with functions, so call ahead if the weather has other plans.

The Heritage trades in country-style atmosphere and affordable classic pub fare, with coffee that gets a regular mention. It doubles as a popular function space for weddings and car club meetups, so weekends can be busy around an event. Trade is limited, running Friday through Sunday only, with the Sunday morning slot built around the Old Petrie Town markets.

Getting there and parking

You will find it inside Old Petrie Town on Dayboro Road, with a large free gravel parking area that gives flat, easy access to the hotel. The classic run is a Sunday morning walk through the markets, then a long lunch on the verandah.

For off-leash running nearby, head to Sweeney Reserve Fenced Dog Park at Petrie or Mungarra Reserve Fenced Dog Park, and Hygge Cafe covers the coffee stop closer to Petrie's centre.
